Con il codice GTIN di GS1 identifichiamo tutti i prodotti in modo univoco e uniforme a livello internazionale. Oltre all’identificazione del prodotto, il codice a barre contiene un numero di lotto o un numero di serie e una data di produzione o di scadenza.

Esso è riportato sul prodotto, sulla confezione singola e sull’imballaggio esterno. Il codice a barre è leggibile da dispositivi automatici, consentendo così di recuperare tutte le informazioni in modo semplice e rapido lungo l’intera catena di processo. In questo modo si evitano errori di inserimento dati.

Gli addetti agli acquisti negli ospedali dispongono di una panoramica completa delle scorte e possono gestire e garantire la sicurezza dei processi di approvvigionamento grazie ai codici a barre.

Grazie ai codici a barre, l’applicazione può attribuire in modo univoco gli strumenti a ciascun caso. Tale identificazione contribuisce alla sicurezza del paziente.

È più facile individuare e sostituire strumenti e apparecchiature difettosi. È più facile risalire alla causa degli incidenti, il che contribuisce a ottimizzare la qualità delle scorte.
